Brass fireplace cladding. When the wall around the fire becomes the element that defines the entire space.
There are spaces built around a single point of warmth, both physical and visual. The fireplace is that point. The wall surrounding it, when treated with the care and precision this project demonstrates, becomes something more than a simple cladding: it becomes an architectural work that carries the warmth of fire across every centimetre of surface, even when the flames go out. This project was produced by Metalbril for a representative space in a luxury hotel in Switzerland, where the brief was precise: a brass-clad wall capable of communicating authority, refinement and an authentic materiality that no conventional material could offer.
The O32 burnished finish is a process of great technical complexity that transforms the brass surface into a visually powerful element of great chromatic depth. The tones range from warm gold to deep black, with clouded variations that shift with the light and make every panel unique. It is not a decorative finish: it is a process that brings to burnished brass an organic materiality and a visual richness that is difficult to achieve with any other surface treatment, designed for practitioners working in hospitality and high-end commercial spaces where detail makes the difference between an environment and an experience.
Finish used for this project
The fireplace cladding is structured as a series of large-format brass panels covering the entire wall from floor to ceiling, framing the modern fireplace with a scenic presence of great impact. The burnished brass panels dialogue with the black painted iron surround that frames the insert, creating a precise and calibrated chromatic contrast that brings depth and character to the whole. The combination of the warm and clouded gold of burnished brass and the absolute black of the painted iron is the design choice that makes this representative space immediately recognisable and difficult to forget.
This project is born from a precise brief for a luxury boutique hotel in Switzerland: a fireplace cladding that is structurally solid, aesthetically powerful and capable of withstanding over time a hospitality environment where surfaces are subject to intensive use. Metalbril responded with a system of brass panels, installed with millimetric precision to guarantee continuity of joints and visual uniformity across the entire surface. The in-house management of every phase of the process, from 3D modelling and design to laboratory production and on-site installation, guaranteed a result consistent with the project’s expectations and compliant with the quality standards required by the hospitality context.
