At Metalbril these processes are carried out in-house by specialised craftspeople, with professional equipment and a knowledge of the material that is refined over time. The finishes we produce range from satin, soft and directional, to full gloss, through to mirror polishing and clouded, a finish that creates unique tonal variations on the surface.
The finishes we produce
Satin, gloss, mirror polishing, clouded: every finish responds to a precise design need and tells a different story about the relationship between metal and light. Satin distributes light with discretion, creating soft and elegant surfaces that enhance the material without overpowering the context. Gloss brings the metal to the maximum of its reflective capacity, with a high-impact visual effect for furnishing accessories, decorative panels and architectural surfaces. Mirror polishing goes even further, transforming the metal into a scenic surface that amplifies the perception of space and becomes the absolute protagonist of the environment. Clouded is instead the most artisanal finish in the repertoire: it creates unique tonal variations that change with the angle of light and the point of observation, delivering a vibrant and unrepeatable surface. To complete the range, electropolishing and metal brightening, for projects requiring a documented, certified surface perfection developed on sample before production.
Cleaning and polishing. Two phases, one result
Metal cleaning is the preparatory phase: it removes oxidations, welding marks, surface imperfections and processing residues that the metal accumulates during production. It is a manual and mechanical process that requires experience and attention, because every metal reacts differently to abrasives and cleaning techniques. Skipping this phase or carrying it out with approximation irremediably compromises the quality of the subsequent finish.
Metal polishing works on the surface grain with progressive passes of increasingly fine abrasives, until achieving the degree of brilliance required by the project. It is not a standardised process: the result depends on the material, the desired finish and the number of passes carried out. Mirror polishing of stainless steel, for example, requires a much longer and more precise sequence of interventions compared to a satin finish, but the result is a surface that reflects the environment with absolute clarity.

In all cases the process is developed in-house, with sampling validated before production.
