At Metalbril these processes are carried out in-house by specialised craftspeople, with professional equipment and a knowledge of the material that is refined over time. The finishes we produce

Satin, gloss, mirror polishing, clouded: every finish responds to a precise design need and tells a different story about the relationship between metal and light. Satin distributes light with discretion, creating soft and elegant surfaces that enhance the material without overpowering the context. Gloss brings the metal to the maximum of its reflective capacity, with a high-impact visual effect for furnishing accessories, decorative panels and architectural surfaces. Mirror polishing goes even further, transforming the metal into a scenic surface that amplifies the perception of space and becomes the absolute protagonist of the environment. Clouded is instead the most artisanal finish in the repertoire: it creates unique tonal variations that change with the angle of light and the point of observation, delivering a vibrant and unrepeatable surface. To complete the range, electropolishing and metal brightening, for projects requiring a documented, certified surface perfection developed on sample before production.

Cleaning and polishing. Two phases, one result

Metal cleaning is the preparatory phase: it removes oxidations, welding marks, surface imperfections and processing residues that the metal accumulates during production. It is a manual and mechanical process that requires experience and attention, because every metal reacts differently to abrasives and cleaning techniques. Skipping this phase or carrying it out with approximation irremediably compromises the quality of the subsequent finish.

Metal polishing works on the surface grain with progressive passes of increasingly fine abrasives, until achieving the degree of brilliance required by the project. It is not a standardised process: the result depends on the material, the desired finish and the number of passes carried out. Mirror polishing of stainless steel, for example, requires a much longer and more precise sequence of interventions compared to a satin finish, but the result is a surface that reflects the environment with absolute clarity.

A progressive process, a bespoke result

Metal cleaning and polishing are carried out in successive phases, each of which prepares the surface for the next step. Starting from the removal of the most evident imperfections, continuing with increasingly fine abrasives and arriving at the final finish required by the project, whether satin, gloss, mirror or clouded. In all cases the process is developed in-house, with sampling validated before production.

Polishing changes depending on the metal. Here is how we work it

Satin finishing is among the most requested in contemporary interior design. It works the metal surface with directional abrasives that create a fine and uniform texture, capable of distributing light without reflecting the environment. The result is a surface that is soft to the eye, elegant and discreet, enhancing the material without overpowering the context. Applied to stainless steel, brass, aluminium and copper.

Gloss. Reflection as a design choice

Gloss finishing brings the metal to the maximum of its reflective capacity. Every polishing pass progressively reduces the surface roughness until achieving a mirror finish. It is the ideal finish for furnishing accessories, decorative elements and architectural surfaces where light is an integral part of the project. Polishing of stainless steel and brass is among our most requested processes by interior designers and architects seeking a high-impact visual effect.

Mirror polishing. The maximum of surface perfection

Metal mirror polishing is the result of a much longer and more controlled sequence of interventions on the surface. Mirror-polished stainless steel, in particular, reflects the environment with a clarity that amplifies the perception of space and brings a scenic presence to any context. It is a highly appreciated process for staircases, wall cladding, decorative panels and high-end furnishing accessories where the metal must become the absolute protagonist.

Clouded. The vibrant finish

Clouded is a finish that creates tonal variations on the metal surface, with chiaroscuro effects that change with the angle of light and the point of observation. It gives the metal a vibrant and materic appearance, far from the uniform perfection of standard finishes. It is one of the most original finishes we produce, highly appreciated in luxury interior design projects seeking uniqueness and a surface that tells the story of the artisanal process that generated it.

Electropolishing and brightening. The processes that complete the repertoire

Stainless steel electropolishing is a chemical process that smooths the surface at a microscopic level, removing imperfections invisible to the naked eye and delivering a finish of great uniformity and corrosion resistance. Particularly suitable for elements that must meet high hygiene requirements, it also finds application in interior design contexts where the quality of the finish must be documented and certified.
Metal brightening is instead a mechanical and chemical process that brings the surface to a higher level of reflection than conventional polishing, with results of great aesthetic quality on brass, stainless steel and aluminium. Together with metal burnishing, which works with fine abrasive products to even out and revive the surface, it completes the repertoire of finishing processes we carry out in-house.

Stainless steel polishing. From satin to mirror

Stainless steel is the material on which polishing expresses its maximum potential. The range of finishes we produce on inox goes from soft satin finishing to mirror polishing, passing through clouded and brightening. Every finish is developed on sample and validated before production, with a documented process compliant with EN 1090 certification.

Brass polishing. The warmth that emerges from the surface

Polishing of brass enhances the golden tone and warm reflections of this metal, bringing it to a level of brilliance that dialogues with light in a unique way. Gloss finishing on brass is among the most requested for lamps, handles, frames and furnishing accessories where the metallic detail must have presence and refinement.

Aluminium polishing. Lightness and reflection on a large scale

Polishing of aluminium allows for large-format reflective surfaces with low weight, ideal for architectural cladding and decorative panels in contract contexts where the scale is ambitious and detail cannot be sacrificed.

Copper cleaning and polishing. Oxidation under control

Cleaning of copper requires particular care because this metal oxidizes rapidly and reacts sensitively to abrasives. Copper polishing delivers a surface of warm and intense colour, with unique pinkish reflections that no other metal can replicate. It is a highly appreciated finish for decorative elements and high-end furnishing accessories.

A physical sample is developed, which is validated under real light conditions before starting production. It continues with internal processing, quality controls and delivery.
