Metalbril

Design

Before a piece takes shape, it must be conceived with precision

Every metal piece we produce begins long before the raw material enters the laboratory. It begins from an idea, a brief, a sketch on paper or a preliminary technical drawing. Design is the moment when that vision transforms into a precise, verifiable and achievable technical solution, using the materials and processes the project requires. At Metalbril, design is a complete in-house service, managed by a highly qualified technical office that accompanies every commission from the first analysis through to final validation before production.

The technical design process. From brief analysis to working drawing

Every commission begins with brief analysis. Even a simple sketch or a preliminary technical drawing is sufficient to start the process: the more details provided, the more precise the estimate and the more efficient the design phase. From the brief analysis, the technical office develops 2D working drawings or 3D design of the piece, defining materials, thicknesses, processing sequences and construction details. Laser cutting, bending and welding parameters specific to the chosen material are also defined, optimising every phase of production to guarantee consistent quality and respected timelines.

Every piece begins from a blank page

Metal carpentry design is not just the phase in which a piece is drawn. It is the phase in which tolerances are defined, materials are chosen, processing sequences are studied, construction challenges are anticipated and the final result is guaranteed to correspond exactly to the designer’s vision. For this reason, at Metalbril design is not an accessory service: it is the starting point of every commission, the moment in which the quality of the piece is built before production even begins.

3D design, parametric modelling and sampling. From visualisation to physical validation

The parametric models and ultra-high-resolution 3D renderings we develop allow the finished piece to be visualised in the real installation context, with materials, metal finishes and light conditions simulated with great fidelity. Interior design rendering is an integral part of our design process: it is not only a communication tool, but a quality control means that allows any critical issues to be identified and resolved before production begins. After this phase, every commission includes physical sampling: the sample is developed in-house on the chosen material, hand-finished like a miniature original, and delivered to the designer for evaluation under real light conditions. Sampling is never standard, because every sample is a true bespoke creation. Only after validation does production proceed, eliminating any risk of surprises on site.

Design across the materials we work with

Metal carpentry design changes depending on the material being worked. Every metal has its own technical characteristics, processing tolerances and construction specificities that require in-depth knowledge to be managed with precision and repeatability on every commission.
